Batch Water Heaters
Batch water heaters are simple cost effective passive solar heaters most often used to preheat water before it ends the traditional water heater. Batch solar water heaters should not be used in cold climates during the winter because they could freeze and rupture.Thermosyphon Water Heaters
A thermosyphon water heater is similar to a batch solar water heater in that it is simple and has no moving parts. In a thermosyphon water heater, circulation is provided by the warmer less dense water rising to the top. For optimum efficiency, the water tank in a thermosyphon water heater must be located above the solar collector.
